Artist Statement:
The concept of the works is to create a
dialogue through jewelry pieces in
continuation of my previous exhibition,
"Order has not been restored"- that dealt
with regional politics (Palestinian villages
in Tel Aviv) in jewelry pieces. These works
try to consider a different way of viewing
the region - the Middle East- a unified view
in the shadow of a regional environmental
crisis caused by global warming. This view
is not usually shown, in a temporary non –
political mapping. A mapping that is based
rather on the climate and the geography,
rather than nationalism religion and
ethnicity.
The slow craft of needlework and
metalwork is posed as an opposite to a
climatic moment. This is intended to
lengthen and metaphorically freeze a
moment in time of the climate: the
temperatures and the precipitation forecasts
of the Middle East during this current week
of the exhibition entry deadline (14.03.10
-21.03.10).
