Artist Statement:

The bracelets shows controversial

situations in the Middle East. The viewer

values and perceptions that he identifies

with them influence  the way he interprets

the situation. The inner part of each

bracelet is a pattern that made up of

situation. The situation displayed as a lace,

as a decorative element, which relates to

the inner side of the jewel, but when the

viewer will pay attention, he will recognize

familiar dilemmas from the day life in the

middle east: a person throwing stones ,

mother crying and weapons in action . The

discovery raises questions like, who is the

victim? Who controls and who controlled?

every situation has a number of

interpretations; there are several points of

view. The influence of the area perceived

also in the special treatment to the inner

part of the objects, which was accepted in

the past  at the region: equal treatment to

the interior and  back parts of the jewel or

the dishes.

What was your starting point or your

inspiration for doing this project?

The Bracelets are continuation of an earlier

project which referred to the modifications

that occurred in the Middle East.

Do you have a personal (or other)

connection to the exhibition’s theme?

By living for all my life in a country that

have extremely complex mix of cultures and

traditions I been exposed to many

influences and there for changes that

happened in the Middle East.

What were the main reasons for choosing

the materials, shapes or technique in your

work?

As an artist who grow in the middle east

and was influence from the dishes at my

grandmother house ' it was important to me

to deal with the inner side of the objects but

in a way that relevant to the present. The

pattern was create by computer and

machine and the aluminum was my raw

material, which  perceived as an industrial

rather than making jewelry.

What kind of feeling you wish the viewers

will get from your work?

I would like to remind the viewer and

myself ,that in every situation there are a

number of perspectives. Therefore we have

to devote a few moments of  thought before

we react.

If you could give your Jewelry to an

important figure in the Middle East who

will he/she be? and why?

This type of jewelry I wish people would

meet on the people from Middle Eastern

countries and not necessarily a celebrity.
